What does a virtual real estate brokerage do?
The office model changes where you handle your business. It does not remove the need for broker supervision, organized transaction files, clear communication, or professional client service. A virtual brokerage connects agents with those resources through digital tools and accessible leadership.
At HomeBased Realty®, agents operate from their home offices or other approved professional arrangements while serving buyers and sellers in the communities they know. The brokerage has served California since 1997. Founder and broker Joe Morales built the company around the idea that technology could support a more flexible way to practice real estate.
What you control—and where the brokerage helps
Independent agents organize their own schedules, develop client relationships, prospect for business, and build their professional identities. HomeBased Realty® supports that independence with broker guidance, transaction oversight, training, and practical resources.
- Your daily business: prospecting, appointments, local market knowledge, follow-up, and client communication.
- Your brokerage foundation: supervision, company policies, file review, training resources, and guidance when a transaction raises questions.
- Your working tools: cloud-based contracts, electronic signatures, transaction resources, virtual meetings, and secure agent-office access.
HomeBased Realty® does not directly provide a dependable stream of company leads. Agents are responsible for generating their business. Occasional company referrals may involve a referral fee.
Choose an office arrangement that fits your work
A home office is the core model, but it is not the only option. Agents may discuss an approved home-office branch, a virtual-office arrangement, or a private commercial office with the broker. Approval and applicable requirements should be confirmed before using an address as a brokerage branch or advertising it as an office.
Statewide recruiting means agents can discuss opportunities in Southern, Central, and Northern California. It does not mean the company maintains a physical branch in every city. Confirm local MLS and association arrangements for the market where you plan to work.
Compare support and the complete cost
Compare the Standard Commission Program with the monthly 100% Commission Program using your expected production. Include the yearly affiliation fee, local professional memberships, personal marketing, and optional services. A low transaction fee is only one part of the decision.
The Standard plan posts a $615 transaction fee, while the monthly option posts $399 per month plus $289 per closing. Special rules apply to smaller commissions, commissions above $10,000, and Standard-plan dual agency. Use the commission calculator to see those rules applied to your inputs.
Decide whether the model fits you
The strongest fit is an agent who values independence and stays accountable: responding promptly, keeping records, meeting deadlines, and asking for guidance early. Working remotely still requires client appointments, property visits, and active participation in transactions.
Review the available agent resources, read the recruiting FAQs, and request a private conversation about your market and goals.
Common questions
Can a California agent work through a virtual brokerage?
HomeBased Realty® offers a statewide home-office brokerage model for eligible California licensees. The agent remains subject to brokerage supervision, licensing requirements, and company policies.
Does virtual mean every part of real estate happens online?
No. Digital tools support your office work, while showings, inspections, client meetings, and local market activity may still require in-person work.
Does HomeBased Realty® have an office in every California city?
Statewide recruiting does not imply an office in every city. The main company mailing address is in Valencia; branch or virtual-office arrangements require discussion and approval.
